Groundnut, also known as peanut, is an immensely significant food and oil crop, cherished for the exceptional nutritional value it offers. The kernels of groundnut are a nutritional powerhouse, boasting a remarkable composition of protein (approximately 25%), oil (about 50%), antioxidants, essential minerals, and vitamins. Groundnuts can be eaten raw, roasted or boiled and are also processed into peanut oil, butter, flour and used in snacks and confectionery. They are also an important component in animal feed production and are used to improve soil fertility due to nitrogen fixation.
